This topic explains the types of content that you can print from your NVivo project and includes instructions on how to print and preview items before printing.

Understand what you can print

You can print project items, including:

  • Sources

  • Nodes

  • Maps (NVivo Pro and Plus only)

  • Charts and diagrams

  • Reports (NVivo Pro and Plus only)

You can also print lists displayed in List View or Detail View, for example:

  • A list of sources in List View

  • The members of a set displayed in List View

  • Query results displayed in Detail View

  • Project event log entries displayed in Detail View

Print a project item

  1. Click on the item in Detail View or List View.

  2. Click the File tab, click Print, and then click Print.

Keyboard Shortcut To display the Print Options dialog box, press CTRL+P.

  1. Select the required print options—refer to Print Options for more information.

  2. Click OK.

NOTE

  • When you print a source or node from Detail View and coding stripes are displayed, you can choose to print the coding stripes.

  • When you print audio and video sources, the media item is represented by the timeline.

Print a list

  1. Click in the list you want to print, either in List View or in Detail View.  

  2. Click the File tab, click Print, and then click Print List.

  1. Click OK.

Change paper size, page orientation or margins before printing

You can set your print preferences for the source (document, dataset, memo or external) or node that is visible in Detail View. You can also set print preferences for visualizations displayed in Detail View (charts, hierarchy charts or cluster analysis diagrams).  

  1. Make sure the item you want to print is displayed in Detail View.

  2. (For sources—except datasets) Make sure you are in edit mode.

  3. On the Layout tab, in the Page group, click Page Setup.

The Page Setup dialog box opens.

  1. Set your preferences for paper size, page orientation and margins.

  2. Click OK.

You can use Print Preview to review layout or format of pages before printing.

  1. Click on the item in Detail View or List View.

  2. Click the File tab, click Print, and then click Print Preview.

The Print Preview window opens. You can review the printed output, using the navigation and zoom commands on Print Preview toolbar.

NOTE To change the paper size and orientation, click Page Setup on the File menu in the Print Preview window.
