Import Options (including content)

This dialog box is displayed when you choose to import selected content from an existing NVivo project.

Select items to import (including contents)

Sources  Select this option to include all sources and source folder structures:  

  • If you want to include coding, see also links, and annotations associated with the sources, you must select these separately.

  • Click the Select users button if you want to restrict your selection to items created and/or modified by specific users.

Source Classifications, Attributes and Attribute Values  Select this option to include all source classifications and attributes (and their attribute values):

  • If you want to import source classifications (attribute values assigned to sources), you must also select sources.

  • Click the Select users button if you want to restrict your selection to items created or modified by specific users.

Nodes  Select this option to include the thematic node structures in the Nodes folder (including any subfolders):

  • If you select nodes in a hierarchical structure that does not exist in your project, then the hierarchical structure will be created.

  • If you want to include coding at the theme nodes, you must select this separately.

  • Memo links on nodes will be imported if the linked memo exists in your project or is also being imported.

  • Click the Select users button if you want to restrict your selection to nodes created or modified by specific users. 

Cases  Select this option to include the case node structures in the Cases folder (including any subfolders):

  • If you select cases in a hierarchical structure that does not exist in your project, then the hierarchical structure will be created.

  • If you want to include coding at the case nodes, you must select this separately.

  • The classification and attribute values assigned to the case will be imported if the classification and attributes exist in your project, or are also being imported.

  • Memo links on cases will be imported if the linked memo exists in your project or is also being imported.

  • Click the Select users button if you want to restrict your selection to cases created or modified by specific users.

Case Classifications, Attributes and Attribute values  Select this option to include all case classifications and attributes (and their attribute values):

  • If you want to import case classifications (attribute values assigned to cases), you must also select cases.

  • Click the Select users button if you want to restrict your selection to items created or modified by specific users.

Coding  Select this option to include coding:  

  • Coding is only imported if both the source containing the references and the node or case containing the coding exist in your project or are also being imported.

  • Click the Select button if you want to restrict your selection to coding by specific users.

Annotations  Select this option to include annotations:   

  • Annotations are only imported if the associated source exists in your project or is also being imported.

  • Click the Select users button if you want to restrict your selection to annotations created or modified by specific users.

See Also Links  Select this option to include 'see also' links:

  • 'See also' links are only imported if the associated source exists in your project or is also being imported.

  • Click the Select users button if you want to restrict your selection to 'see also' links created or modified by specific users.

Summaries  Select this option to include summaries (that can be viewed within framework matrices):

  • Summaries are only imported if its row and column nodes or cases exist in your project or are also being imported. Framework matrices displaying these summaries are only imported if you choose to also import sources.

  • Click the Select users button if you want to restrict your selection to summaries created by specific users.
