Export project items

 


This topic explains how to export content from your NVivo project and provides links to other useful topics.

Export a project item

You can export sources, nodes, maps, report output, as well as query results and visualizations displayed in Detail View.

  1. Click on the item in Detail View or List View.

  2. On the Data tab, in the Export group, click Items.

Export a list

You can export lists displayed in List View or Detail View—for example, a list of set members displayed in List View, or a list of coding references displayed on the node summary tab in Detail View.

You can export a list to a variety of file types; Microsoft Excel (.xls, .xlsx), Microsoft Word (.doc, .docx), PDF (.pdf), Rich text (.rtf) and plain text (.txt).

To export a list:

  1. Click on the list you want to export.

  2. On the Data tab, in the Export group, click List.

The Save As dialog box opens.

  1. The exported file is saved to your default location for exported files, you can choose a different location if necessary.

  2. In the File name box, review the name that NVivo proposes for the exported file, and change it if necessary.

  3. In the Save as type list, choose the file format for the exported file.

  4. Click Save.

NOTE If you are exporting nodes displayed in List View, you may need to expand or collapse the hierarchy—only visible items are included in the exported file.
